What we treat

Built around your child's real life

We focus on what’s actually happening at home, at school, and in between. Not a checklist protocol applied the same way to every kid.

One dedicated provider

No rotating staff. No starting over. Your child builds real trust with one person who knows them.

WHY FAMILIES LOVE AVELA HEALTH

I found Avela because I had concern for my daughter with ASD. I feel comfortable with our therapist and she makes us feel like we’re talking to family. My girls are maturing very well!

What we help with

The stuff that makes daily life hard

The moments that don’t show up in a progress report but define your family’s day.

meltdowns
Meltdowns & emotional regulation

Understanding what's underneath the behavior, not just managing it. Helping your child build strategies that work for their nervous system, and helping you understand what they're communicating.

Morning battles & daily routines

Getting out the door. Mealtimes. Bedtime. Homework. Transitions between activities. The daily friction points that exhaust everyone and that no one outside your house sees.

book
Environmental overwhelm

Holding it together at school. Falling apart at the grocery store. Refusing to walk into a birthday party. Your child's overwhelm doesn't stay in one place — and neither do our strategies.

connection
Social connection

Making friends, handling conflict, reading social situations, and communicating needs. Support that meets your child where they actually are, not where a curriculum says they should be.

Our Team

Meet Dr. Rose Morlino, clinical director

“By the time families find us, they’ve usually been told their child is ‘fine’ at school but falling apart at home — or the other way around. We work in both worlds, because your child lives in both.”

Frequently asked questions

Avela Health is in-network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Independence Blue Cross in Pennsylvania, and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. We also accept many other Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in these states. If you’re not sure whether your plan covers our services, call or text us at 855-328-5931 — we’ll check your benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises.

We primarily serve families in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Avela FIT Kids is delivered entirely virtually — all sessions happen over secure video from your home. No driving to a clinic, no pulling your child out of school. Your child’s provider works with them in the environment where the strategies matter most.

If your child doesn’t yet have a diagnosis, we recommend starting with a diagnostic evaluation. Avela Health offers comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming evaluations completed by doctoral-level psychologists. Many families move directly from their evaluation into the program, so you’re not starting over from scratch.

You and your child work with one licensed master’s or doctoral level provider — the same person, every session — over secure video from home. Sessions are built around what’s actually happening in your child’s life right now: the morning routine that’s falling apart, the after-school meltdowns, the social situations they’re avoiding. Frequency depends on your family’s needs, but the Avela FIT™ Kids is intentionally time-bound and targeted rather than open-ended. In between sessions, you’re applying what you’re learning in the real moments — because that’s where the progress happens.

Yes. Your child’s provider collaborates with their school, IEP team, and any other providers involved in their care — aligning strategies, sharing goals, and making sure what’s working at home translates to what’s happening in the classroom. One of the biggest burdens families carry is being the only person holding the full picture. We help close that gap so you’re not the one translating between every provider and every setting.

This is one of the most common patterns we see. Your child holds it together all day — manages the noise, follows the rules, masks through every transition — and then falls apart the second they walk in the door. The school says everything’s great. You know it’s not. That gap between what school sees and what you see at home doesn’t mean nothing is wrong. It means your child is working incredibly hard to hold it together in one environment, and home is where it’s safe to let go. We build strategies that account for both worlds — what’s happening at school that’s depleting them, and what they need at home to recover and regulate.
