What to expect during an online autism evaluation
1
Start with a one-on-one conversation between you and one of our psychologists
We’ll take time to understand your concerns, ask about your child’s developmental history, and explore whether they show signs of autism or other developmental differences.
2
The next step will be gathering more information, with a tailored approach
Your psychologist will interview or observe your child in their natural environment, based on their needs, developmental level, and your concerns.
We will have you complete validated assessments that help us better understand your child’s strengths and challenges.
3
Review the results with your psychologist and create a plan
Once we’ve gathered all the information, your psychologist will walk you through the findings. Together, you’ll talk through next steps and create a plan that’s right for your family.

We’re available Monday through Friday from 9am-8pm EST.
Who is a virtual autism evaluation right for?
This process is ideal for families who:
- Are concerned about autism symptoms like speech delays, meltdowns, social struggles, or rigid routines.
- Have a pediatrician recommending further evaluation.
- Have been stuck on long waitlists or told to “just wait and see.”
- Want a remote autism diagnosis from home, without the travel or stress.
We evaluate children and teens of all ages and customize our process based on your child’s age, needs, and communication style.
Are virtual autism evaluations accurate?
Yes. Studies have shown that comprehensive virtual diagnostic assessments—when conducted by trained professionals using adapted tools—can be just as accurate as in-person evaluations.
Will I get an official autism diagnosis?
Yes. If your child or teen meets the criteria for autism spectrum disorder, you’ll receive a formal diagnosis with a report you can use for school services, insurance coverage, and next steps.
Who will be completing my family’s virtual diagnostic evaluation?
Our evaluations are completed by doctoral-level clinical psychologists. Each of our providers is extensively trained in evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming care, including diagnostic evaluations with high masking individuals and differential diagnoses (e.g., between autism and ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, and disruptive behavior concerns)—so you can trust that your family is in skilled, compassionate hands.
Does Blue Cross Blue Shield cover virtual autism evaluations?

When appropriate, we use a version of the ADOS that has been modified for telehealth.
