Therapy designed for autistic teens
Your teen doesn’t need a program designed for younger children. Avela FIT™ Teen is individualized care for ages 12–18, with a dedicated provider who understands their world.
how we help
A program for who your teen is now
We build around the real stuff — things that don’t always show up in a progress report but can defines your family’s life.
One provider,
real trust
No rotating staff. One provider who learns how your teen thinks, what they avoid, and what gets them through.
Everything
from a screen
Video calls, text-based check-ins — support that meets your teen where they already are: on their phone.
A community that
gets it
The friendships that form when no one has to perform. Real connection with teens who share their experience.
What we help with
The stuff that makes daily life hard
Your teen is figuring out who they are in a world that tells them to be someone else.
The stress isn't always visible until it boils over. We help teens name it, catch it earlier, and build coping strategies that fit their life.
Organization, task initiation, transitions — and the overwhelm that spikes when expectations outpace support.
Understanding their brain, owning their needs, and building confidence that doesn't depend on masking.
Real connections on their terms — and helping parents and teens actually hear each other again.

Frequently asked questions
Are you in-network with my health insurance?
Avela Health is in-network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Independence Blue Cross in Pennsylvania, and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. We also accept many other Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in these states. If you’re not sure whether your plan covers our services, call or text us at 855-328-5931 — we’ll check your benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises.
Where is Avela Health located?
We primarily serve families in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Avela FIT™ Teens is delivered entirely virtually — individual sessions and peer groups all happen over secure video from home. No traveling to a clinic, sitting in a waiting room, or being lumped in with a group of younger kids.
What does a typical week look like?
Your teen works one-on-one with their dedicated provider over video or text — same person every time, no rotating staff. Sessions are built around what’s actually going on in their life right now: the school stress, the social situations, the shutdowns, the things they’re not telling you but are clearly carrying. Frequency depends on their needs and adjusts as they progress.
Your teen also has access to virtual peer groups with other neurodivergent teens — not a social skills curriculum, just a space where they don’t have to mask. And there’s a caregiver component for you, because what’s happening at home matters as much as what’s happening in session. Our provider will collaborate with you and your teen to structure sessions that work best for your family to meet your goals.
What if my teen is skeptical of therapy?
Teens who’ve been through services before have usually learned that “therapy” means someone telling them what’s wrong with them and what to change. That’s not what this is. Their provider isn’t rotating out after a month. Nobody’s running a compliance checklist. Goals are set with your teen, not handed to them. Trust gets built through consistency and through your teen actually feeling like the person across the screen understands what it’s like to be them right now. We don’t expect buy-in on day one. We earn it.
How is this different from the therapy my teen already tried?
A lot of teens come to us when previous services have ended, stopped helping, or simply weren’t the right match from the start. Previous therapy may have focused on surface behaviors — managing meltdowns, following social scripts, making eye contact — without ever addressing what was underneath. Avela FIT™ Teens is built around your teen’s actual profile: their sensory system, their regulatory patterns, how they process socially, what’s draining them. And your teen has a voice in what they’re working on — because a 15-year-old who doesn’t see the point of their own goals isn’t going to do the work.
Does my teen have a say in their goals?
Yes, and that’s non-negotiable. Your teen’s goals are shaped collaboratively — with them, with you, and with their provider. If your teen doesn’t see the point of a goal, it’s not going to work. We focus on what matters to them: getting through the school day without falling apart, actually wanting to show up to something social, understanding their own patterns, figuring out who they are without masking. Your input matters too — but your teen’s voice is central.
Will this help prepare my teen for what's coming next?
If a transition is on the horizon — high school, college, a first job, more independence — that urgency is real, and we build around it. We work on the skills that independence actually requires: self-advocacy, managing sensory demands in new environments, executive functioning under real-world pressure. The goal is to help your teen understand themselves well enough to build a life that works for how their brain operates.
