Frequently asked questions
If you have questions, call or text us at 855-328-5931.
We’re available Monday through Friday from 9am-8pm EST.
How does billing work?
If you’re using insurance
Our team will verify your benefits to confirm your plan is active and in-network. Before your first visit, we’ll send you a clear estimate of what your insurance is expected to cover and what your out-of-pocket costs may be.
Any co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible amount will be billed after your insurance claim has been processed. You’ll receive an email invoice at that time.
If you’re paying out of pocket
You’ll receive an invoice by email. Payment is due prior to your first visit to confirm your appointment.
If you have questions about coverage or costs at any point, our team is here to walk you through it.
Who needs to attend the first visit?
If you’re scheduling an evaluation or therapy intake for your child, a parent or legal guardian should attend the first appointment. Your child does not need to be present for this initial visit.
If you’re scheduling for yourself as an adult, you’ll attend on your own.
This first conversation is focused on understanding your concerns, history, and goals so we can plan the next steps thoughtfully and efficiently.
How will I join my visit?
All Avela Health appointments are held virtually using a secure, HIPAA-compliant Zoom platform.
After you schedule, you’ll receive an email with your private Zoom link. At the time of your appointment, simply click that link to join.
We recommend logging in a few minutes early to make sure your camera and audio are working properly. Choose a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly.
If you have any trouble accessing the link, our Client Support team is available by phone or text at 855-328-5931 and can help you in real time.
How should I prepare for my first appointment?
We will email you some intake paperwork that we ask that you complete prior to your visit. Other than completing these online forms, you don’t need to prepare anything formal.
Before your visit, take a few minutes to reflect on what prompted you to schedule and the concerns that feel most important right now. If you have prior reports (IEPs, evaluations, therapy notes), you’re welcome to gather those, but they’re not required for the first visit.
